When I wrote up the police blotter for my local paper, ages and ages ago, I didn't get to have so much fun with it; I"m glad this Hoffa gal plays with the form a bit. Our entries went more like this:

NAME, AGE, was arrested at TIME, PLACE on DATE and charged with CRIME. PERSON was released on DOLLAR AMOUNT bond and will be arraigned at TIME on DATE.

Borrrring.

Then again, when something fun did happen, we usually did a story on it. So then you get the whole buzz of "City Council person/School board member/Prestigious Citizen has been charged with driving after drinking an alleged eighteen alcoholic beverages at last night's Chamber of Commerce gala. The accused, who is up for election/has just been elected/is everyone's favorite person, has said she/he/it made an error in judgment but denies that it was "as egregious as the press and police claim. His/Her opponent/arch-nemesis/PTA rival said today that PERSON should step down from his/her position immediately and move out of town. PERSON said she/he has not yet made any decision to resign/move/go to rehab."

And then there are twenty-seven stories on that in the next week. Yes, Ms. Hoffa's way is better.

[...] Stupid Blog Name put an intriguing blog post on Stranger Than FictionHere’s a quick excerptI used to think I had the best job in the world. Day after day, I sit around in my sweatpants and make stuff up. And people pay me for it! What could be cooler? Okay, it would be cooler if people paid me more for it, but – you know. I do okay, all things considered. As it turns out, if you take money out of the equation (and with most writing jobs you have to), a woman named Jeanne Hoffa has the best job in the world.
